NextETRUCK reaches key milestone with IRIZAR truck deployment in Barcelona

The NextETRUCK project has achieved a major milestone with the successful delivery and operational readiness of the Irizar electric truck in Barcelona. The vehicle has been handed over to FCC fully homologated and prepared for imminent deployment. NextETRUCK invites its audience to visit the truck during our official kick-off event on 25 September 2025 in Barcelona.

In preparation for operations, a comprehensive training session was conducted with the local operator team, which is now ready to utilise these NextETRUCK services in their daily waste collection activities.

The Irizar truck is now set to begin operational waste collection, a significant step forward in the project’s development, which plays a crucial role in validating the solution under real-world urban conditions. To support charging operations, the site is currently using existing 50 kW Jema chargers. A new 180 kW Jema charger will be installed to enhance charging capacity, ensuring long-term operational efficiency.

The launch of the Barcelona pilot represents a strong collaboration between IRIZAR, FCC, and the broader NextETRUCK team, paving the way for sustainable, zero-emission urban logistics.
