NextETRUCK Smart Tools
Supporting zero-emission freight transition
As part of its mission to accelerate the adoption of Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), the NextETRUCK project has developed practical, free-to-use tools designed to support logistics operators, fleet managers, and decision-makers in planning their transition to electric freight transport.
The KITE Tool
KITE (Key Infrastructure for Truck Electrification) is a free, online decision-support platform developed by CENEX UK and CENEX Nederland. KITE enables fleet managers to compare diesel and electric truck options through Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, assess charging infrastructure needs, and estimate potential emissions reductions. By inputting fleet-specific operational data, users receive tailored insights to help them plan cost-effective, data-driven electrification strategies. Available in English and Dutch, KITE helps organisations of all sizes make confident steps toward sustainable freight operations.
- Route Prioritisation by TCO: Identifies which routes are most economically viable for electrification.
- Comparative TCO Analysis: Compares diesel and electric truck models to evaluate cost-effectiveness.
- Charging Infrastructure Assessment: Estimates the charging needs and investment required at depots.
- Business Case Development: Supports financial planning and estimates infrastructure investment needs.
- Impact Monitoring: Calculates the environmental benefits of fleet electrification.
