SUMMARY:IRU-POLIS Webinar #3: The future of energy infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:The third and last iteration of the IRU-POLIS webinar series will take place on 16 April 2024 from 15:00-16:30 and will shed light on the challenges related to energy infrastructure of long-haul zero-emission freight vehicles. The 90-min long webinar\, which will be moderated by IRU\, will feature the two EU-funded projects of ZEFES and ESCALATE. Both projects are currently planning long distance tests of battery-electric\, hydrogen- and hybrid trucks in various European countries.\n\nRegister Now!\nWhat to expect?\nThe road freight transport sector is facing significant challenges to decarbonise and to reach the EU climate targets\, especially as zero-emission drivetrain technologies and batteries currently have its limitations. EU-projects like ZEFES and ESCALATE pave the way through large-scale vehicle testing. \nBeyond the specificities of the vehicle itself\, such as the battery\, thermal unit\, drivetrain and other components\, the creation of an efficient infrastructure is another significant task that requires cross-border cooperation and a dense network of high-speed charging- and refueling infrastructure. Thus\, the following questions will be discussed after a brief introduction of the two projects: \n\nHow to create a common energy infrastructure network that caters zero-emission vehicles across the entire logistics chain?\nHow cities\, regions and TEN-T nodes & parking areas can provide a sufficient refueling network for zero-emission freight?\nWhat is the required investment to safeguard an efficient transition towards a zero-emission energy- & refueling infrastructure?\n\n  \nDraft agenda:\n\nWelcome words and introduction\nESCALATE: Refueling and recharging infrastructure and long-haul cross-border freight pilots\nZEFES: Insights into the potentials of fuel-cell HDVs\nRound-table discussion on the required energy infrastructure for long-haul vehicles

SUMMARY:Webinar on zero-emission heavy duty vehicles
DESCRIPTION:NextETRUCK\, TNO and POLIS invite you to attend our upcoming webinar on zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles \, which will take place on 20 February\, from 14-15:00. \nRegister here\n  \nRoad freight is one of the highest polluting sector in Europe\, which is currently underperforming in it effort to decarbonise in order to reach the EU climate targets. Whereas the uptake of electric private passenger cars is surging in many EU member states\, battery- and (fast-) charging technology are currently the limiting factors for heavy duty vehicles. \nSignificant advancement in the above-stated technologies were made in recent years\, which allowed the major truck OEMs to bring eHGVs on the market. Thus\, the state-of-the-art of these vehicles are going to be highlighted in the joint webinar by TNO and POLIS. \nWhat are the main aspects of the NextETRUCK webinar? \n\nLatest developments of the zero-emission freight sector\nNewest models of electric- and hydrogen trucks\nCurrent and potential future use cases of these newly developed vehicles\n\n  \nI am not representing an entity that is directly involved in the logistics-\, production- or charging sector of zero-emission HGVs and specifically electric trucks\, why is the topic relevant for me? \nWhether you are representing a city\, region\, institution or the private sector – the decarbonisation of road freight is essential to achieve climate targets and requires significant investments from cities related to energy- and charging infrastructure. Furthermore\, cities and businesses should be aware of the challenges and current limitations of heavy-duty vehicles that are not propelled by an internal combustion engine. \nKnowing the current state-of-the-art\, one could potentially answer these questions: \n\nHow can goods enter urban areas without noise- and air pollution?\nWhat investment strategies should be taken?\nWhat are the cost of decarbonising the road freight sector?\n\n  \n
