SUMMARY:NextETRUCK on stage at 7th CSUM Conference
DESCRIPTION:NextETRUCK is presenting its progress as part of a special session at the 7th Conference on Sustainable Mobility (CSUM) 2024\, which will take place from 4-6 September at Plastira’s lake\, Karditsa in Greece. The special session\, which is moderated by POLIS Network and is held in cooperation with the EU-funded freight projects of URBANE and ESCALATE\, will take place on 4 September from 9-11:00 in the Borlero Room. \nThe aim of the joint session is to present all three projects\, its plans and potential tests in the region of South-East Europe. The focus will be on the following two aspects: innovative solutions for vehicles\, infrastructure and digital planning support\, as well as the challenges related to decarbonising the entire (road) freight supply chain. An additional aspect will be the unique and holistic view on the entire supply chain\, from long-haul (ESCALATE)\, (peri-)urban freight (NextETRUCK) to last-mile deliveries (URBANE). \nThe session will start with welcome words and a brief explanation of the session structure by POLIS Network\, followed by spotlight presentations from all three EU-funded projects and two blocks of panel discussions\, focusing on the different challenges of connecting long-haul with medium- and last-mile zero-emission freight solutions\, as well as a discussion on the innovative aspects of test pilot and the related challenges of testing zero-emission freight vehicles. \nLearn More

SUMMARY:IRU-POLIS Webinar #3: The future of energy infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:The third and last iteration of the IRU-POLIS webinar series will take place on 16 April 2024 from 15:00-16:30 and will shed light on the challenges related to energy infrastructure of long-haul zero-emission freight vehicles. The 90-min long webinar\, which will be moderated by IRU\, will feature the two EU-funded projects of ZEFES and ESCALATE. Both projects are currently planning long distance tests of battery-electric\, hydrogen- and hybrid trucks in various European countries.\n\nRegister Now!\nWhat to expect?\nThe road freight transport sector is facing significant challenges to decarbonise and to reach the EU climate targets\, especially as zero-emission drivetrain technologies and batteries currently have its limitations. EU-projects like ZEFES and ESCALATE pave the way through large-scale vehicle testing. \nBeyond the specificities of the vehicle itself\, such as the battery\, thermal unit\, drivetrain and other components\, the creation of an efficient infrastructure is another significant task that requires cross-border cooperation and a dense network of high-speed charging- and refueling infrastructure. Thus\, the following questions will be discussed after a brief introduction of the two projects: \n\nHow to create a common energy infrastructure network that caters zero-emission vehicles across the entire logistics chain?\nHow cities\, regions and TEN-T nodes & parking areas can provide a sufficient refueling network for zero-emission freight?\nWhat is the required investment to safeguard an efficient transition towards a zero-emission energy- & refueling infrastructure?\n\n  \nDraft agenda:\n\nWelcome words and introduction\nESCALATE: Refueling and recharging infrastructure and long-haul cross-border freight pilots\nZEFES: Insights into the potentials of fuel-cell HDVs\nRound-table discussion on the required energy infrastructure for long-haul vehicles

SUMMARY:ChargeUp Europe webinar: accelerate HDV electrification
DESCRIPTION:By the end of the decade\, electric heavy-duty vehicles (eHDVs) will represent an increasing share of the overall HDV fleet in Europe. The HDV segment will be electrified in stages – starting from urban areas deliveries and depot charging\, and gradually moving into long-haul trucking\, with charging available on the way. \nAs this picture comes into focus\, the EV charging industry is fully accompanying the electrification of the HDV segment. The transformation could be accelerated by ensuring available space for infrastructure deployment\, providing sufficient power supply and incentivizing with purchase subsidies. \nThis discussion between policy makers and industry will delve into how the collaboration between different actors and how the symbiosis between AFIR and CO2 standards can ensure the success of this transformation\, allowing the EU to move forward with confidence and ambition on CO2 emissions standards for HDVs. \nRegister Here
