Our project partner Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) shared the work of NextETRUCK at the International Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS), which took place from 22-26 April 2024 in Seoul, South Korea.

What is the EVS?

The annual symposium is the largest and most prominent global event in the electric vehicle industry, showcasing current and emerging technologies both in the market and under development. The EVS37 gathered academic, government, and industry professionals by focusing on the theme of “Electric Waves to Future Mobility”.

What did the VUB present in Seoul?

Duong Tran, postdoctoral researcher at the EPOWERS research group, MOBI research centre, presented a recent paper that summarises a digital twin, which was developed as part of NextETRUCK.

This innovative digital twin framework helps to characterise energy consumption for electric trucks. Developed within AVL’s CRUISE M software, the microsimulation vehicle model (MVM) serves as a foundational pre-digital twin (pre-DT) model.

This MVM can be tailored and implemented according to different levels of hardware resources, include on-board vehicle-cloud live connection and off-board diagnosis, as well as the open vehicle powertrain platform. Thus, the developed microsimulation vehicle model provides a very capable solution to calculate the efficiency and sustainability of electric truck fleets.

Besides the development of this great solution, Duong Tran received a significant praise from the organisers of the symposium by receiving the award for best oral presentation.

NextETRUCK invites you to learn more about digital twinning by signing up for our two webinars in September:
